Towards sustainable development
Starting from the 2024 edition, as Golden Gala Pietro Mennea we have voluntarily decided to integrate a sustainable management system for the event by developing and publishing our sustainability strategy “Towards sustainable development” according to the World Athletics guidelines, sharing its principles and objectives and at the same time measuring ourselves against the Athletics for a Better World Standard.
The goal for 2024 was to promote the spread of a culture of sustainability by starting an awareness-raising process aimed at athletes, the public, journalists, sponsors, institutions and other external stakeholders, starting from a set of shared values and initially applied within the organization itself.
The process of reporting the performances and sporting, economic, social and environmental impacts generated by the event was essential for the development of a Continuous Improvement Plan, which constitutes the basis on which the 2025 edition took shape and which will allow us to achieve long-term sustainable growth.
As Golden Gala Pietro Mennea we formally adhere to the sustainability strategy of World Athletics, the World Athletics Federation, measuring our economic, social and environmental performance with the Athletics for a Better World Standard. With the Sustainability Policy we also want to formalize our contribution to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. In particular, 12 SDGs have been identified on which we believe we can focus our activities more effectively.
