Golden Gala Start Lists

The Italian leg of the Wanda Diamond League on Friday, June 6, starting at 7:15 PM. Eleven Olympic champions confirmed

Everything is ready at the Stadio Olimpico: the start lists have been published for the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea – Presented by IP, taking place this Friday in Rome, the fifth leg of the Wanda Diamond League. The event will feature 11 Olympic champions, 15 Diamond League champions, and more than 60 Olympic Games and World Championships medallists. 

The men’s high jump progression has been set for the challenge between Tokyo Olympic champion Gianmarco Tamberi and Paris gold medallist Hamish Kerr, along with World Indoor champion Woo Sang-hyeok and Italian Stefano Sottile: 2.12 – 2.16 – 2.20 – 2.23 – 2.26 – 2.28, followed by +2 cm increments.

In the women’s 5000 meters—one of the most awaited events of the 45th edition of Italy’s premier athletics meeting—pacemaker targets are set at 2:51 for 1000 meters and 8:33 for 3000 meters. The lineup includes Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet, world record holder Gudaf Tsegay, and Italy’s Olympic silver medallist in the 10,000 meters, Nadia Battocletti.

In the men’s 100 meters, the central lanes will host four Americans who have already run sub-10 seconds this season: Brandon Hicklin in lane 3, Trayvon Bromell in lane 4, Fred Kerley in lane 5, and Courtney Lindsey in lane 6. 

The women’s pole vault progression—kicking off the 14-event schedule at 7:15 p.m.—has also been announced: 4.35 – 4.50 – 4.65 – 4.75, then +5 cm. 

Pacing targets for the men’s 1500 meters are 1:53 at 800 meters and 2:21 at 1000 meters; for the women’s 1500 meters, 2:05 at 800 meters and 2:36 at 1000 meters.
