ENTRY LIST GOLDEN GALA PIETRO MENNEA – PRESENTED BY IP
The lineup for the men’s 100 meters at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea – Presented by IP is becoming increasingly prestigious, promising a ten-second thrill ride—or possibly even less. Just nine days away from the Italian leg of the Wanda Diamond League, taking place on June 6 at Rome’s Olympic Stadium, it’s now confirmed that American sprinter Trayvon Bromell will be competing. Bromell was the 2022 Wanda Diamond League champion, a two-time World Championships bronze medallist in the 100 meters (2015 and 2022), and World Indoor Champion in Portland in 2016.
With a spectacular personal best of 9.76 set in 2021, Bromell is the sixth fastest man in history. Just last weekend, he clocked 9.91 in Florida—his best time in the past three years—just one hundredth of a second off the current world-leading 9.90 held by South African Akani Simbine.
Another standout sprinter has also joined the 100m lineup for the Golden Gala: Colombian Ronal Longa, who equalled the South American record of 9.96 at the Savona meeting. With their inclusion, the race now features nine athletes with sub-10-second personal bests.
It’s shaping up to be an unmissable race, featuring Olympic bronze medalist Fred Kerley (USA)—a three-time Golden Gala winner (400m in 2018, 100m in 2022 and 2023), Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, and Italy’s Filippo Tortu and Chituru Ali. Also on the entry list are Courtney Lindsey (USA), recent 200m winner in Rabat’s Wanda Diamond League meet, Emmanuel Eseme (Cameroon), and Abdul Hakim Sani Brown (Japan).
