Furlani ready to fly at the Golden Gala

The second big name of the event has been announced: on June 4, the long jump world champion will light up the Stadio Olimpico. Tickets available on TicketOne.

A world‑class fly at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico. The Golden Gala Pietro Mennea has revealed the second big star for the 2026 edition, scheduled for Thursday, June 4. Shining at the fifth leg of the Wanda Diamond League will be long jump world champion Mattia Furlani, the home crowd favourite, ready to take off in front of the Tevere stand.

“I’m really delighted, I can’t wait to jump again at the Olimpico,” said Furlani. “Last year was an unforgettable experience. I hope the crowd will be just as warm as the first time, and it will certainly be another important competition, also in preparation for the European Championships in Birmingham.”

For the Italian athlete, this will be his second consecutive appearance at the Golden Gala, where he finished second in 2025, a season that brought him to the top of the world in long jump, with an indoor gold medal in Nanjing and an outdoor gold in Tokyo, as well as second place in the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich. At the Olimpico, Furlani also claimed silver at the 2024 European Championships in Rome, just weeks before winning bronze at the Paris Olympics.

Furlani’s name joins that of another Italian star, Nadia Battocletti, already announced for the 5000 metres. In the coming weeks, more international champions will be revealed for what promises to be a brilliant line-up for the 46th edition. Ticket sales are already open for an unmissable night of athletics: tickets can be purchased online on TicketOne.
