Romeo, the Golden Gala Mascot
On the occasion of the Rome City Marathon, to be held on Sunday, 21 March, the Golden Gala – the international athletics meeting of next 10 June, fourth leg of the IAAF Diamond League – launches two promotional initiatives related to the meeting. The Roma City Marathon Village (Rome’s Palazzo delle Esposizioni, open from today until Saturday evening) hosts a space dedicated to the Golden Gala, and here – first of the two initiatives – visitors will be able to get a special Golden Gala bib, personalized with own name: the owners of the bibs, on the 10th of June, the day of the Golden Gala, will be able to be part of a parade onto the track of the Stadium, just one hour before the meeting. A unique chance to walk on the surface of the monumental Olympic Stadium, host venue of the Olympic Games of 1960.
In this same place, the Marathon Village, visitors will be able to meet “Romeo”, the new Golden Gala Mascot, who will be walking around, inviting people to the Golden Gala. Romeo is a roman red-haired cat (a very popular animal in the Eternal City…), wearing the ancient roman vest, but also…athletics shoes! Romeo will also be present on the starting/arrival line of the Rome City Marathon, Sunday morning. The Golden Gala mascot will be participating, from now on, to all the promotional initiatives related to the meeting.
