Golden Gala: the show is coming!

It’s just 35 days to go to 4th June, the big day of the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea. The 35th edition of the Italian capital’s athletics meeting, the fourth leg of the IAAF Diamond League, will be presented during a press conference on Tuesday 5th May (11 o’clock) at the Salone Tribuna Autorità at the Rome Olympic Stadium. The press conference will be attended by CONI President Giovanni Malagò and the FIDAL President Alfio Giomi. The names of the stars who will take part in the meeting which already features Renaud Lavillenie, pole vault Olympic champion and World record holder, World champions David Storl (men’s shot put) and Sandra Perkovic (discus throw). The press conference will be attended by Alessia Trost, who will face her historic rival Mariya Kuchina and Kamila Licwinko, who went to the podium together with the Italian star at the European Indoor Championships in Prague, on the runway where Stefka Kostadinova set the current world record and European marathon champion Daniele Meucci. The marathon runner from Pisa will receive the Bruno Zauli Award, the special Prize given to an athlete from the Italian Athletics Federation and to a sportsperson (or team) from another Federation who has stood out in the past two years. The other athlete who will receive the Bruno Zauli Award will be Arianna Fontana, the multi-medallist short-track star at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

During this occasion other awards will be given to journalists. The Alfredo Berra Award (written press) will be given to Giorgio Barberis (La Stampa) and Fausto Narducci (La Gazzetta dello Sport) and the Paolo Rosi Prize (radio and tv) will be awarded to Nicola Roggero (Sky). The “Quercia al merito atletico di primo grado” will be awarded to Leandro De Sanctis (Corriere dello Sport), Valerio Piccioni (La Gazzetta dello Sport), Aligi Pontani (La Repubblica), Carlo Santi (Il Messaggero) and Francesco Volpe (Il Corriere dello Sport).

THE TICKET SALE IS OPEN: The ticket sale for the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea, which takes place on 4th June at the Olympic Stadium, has already started. Tickets can be purchased at the Ticketone outlets, the Ticketing partner of the Rome meeting and on the website of the company at the address www.ticketone.it (in the section sport or looking for Golden Gala in the motor engine inside the website). These are the prizes for the 2015 edition: Monte Mario Arrivi (Finish-line): 30 Euros, Monte Mario (starting line):20 Euros, Tribuna Tevere (Distinti finish line): 15 Euros, Curve and Distinti (expect from Distinti Arrivi): 5 Euros. The Foro Italico ticket office (Viale delle Olimpiadi 61, ex Ostello) is open from Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 13.00 and 14.00 to 17.00
