Italy\u2019s Marcell Jacobs finished fifth in 9.99, returning below the 10-second barrier after almost two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four athletes left Rome with world-leading marks. Ethiopia\u2019s Likina <strong>Amebaw <\/strong>dominated the women\u2019s 5000m in 14:18.41, while Slovakia\u2019s Emma <strong>Zapletalov\u00e1 <\/strong>clocked 52.58 in the women\u2019s 400m hurdles, the third-fastest European performance in history. American Trey <strong>Cunningham <\/strong>ran 12.98 (+0.5) to win the men\u2019s 110m hurdles, and Sri Lanka\u2019s Ramesh Tharanga <strong>Pathirage <\/strong>produced one of the performances of the night with a huge javelin throw of 92.62m, the eighth-best mark ever recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another key highlight on the track was the women\u2019s 200m, where Olympic 100m champion Julien <strong>Alfred <\/strong>of Saint Lucia defeated reigning world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden of the United States, 21.93 to 22.17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The home crowd also had plenty to celebrate as Italian athletes claimed three victories. Leonardo <strong>Fabbri <\/strong>won the shot put with 22.14m, Andy <strong>Diaz <\/strong>triumphed in the triple jump with 17.59m, and Matteo <strong>Sioli <\/strong>took top honours in the high jump with a clearance of 2.28m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elsewhere, France\u2019s Gabriel <strong>Tual <\/strong>won the men\u2019s 800 metres in 1:43.98. Norway\u2019s Henriette <strong>Jaeger <\/strong>impressed in the women\u2019s 400 metres, taking victory in 49.60, while Great Britain\u2019s world indoor champion Georgia <strong>Hunter Bell<\/strong> captured the women\u2019s 1500m in 3:58.63.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The women\u2019s pole vault produced one of the strongest competitions of the season, with Britain\u2019s Molly <strong>Caudery <\/strong>emerging victorious as three athletes cleared 4.80m, including Olympic champion Nina Kennedy of Australia and Switzerland\u2019s Angelica Moser. In the men\u2019s long jump, Bulgaria\u2019s Bozhidar <strong>Saraboyukov <\/strong>edged Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou by two centimetres with a leap of 8.26m.
